Anthropology of London
Anthropology of London is fieldwork culminating in a sensorial exploration of the paradoxical condemnation of isolation in the Metropolis of London. The project dives into interviews, and field research to portray the flux of the past of living in the city of London.
This research project leans on Simmelian theories of how people and society are yielded from one another, how they are in constant friction and hence change.
Looking back at the growth of London we can identify how it is based upon ethics of imports and exports, colonization and post-colonization economy, architectures of power, a defined class system, and strong identity imposition.
Over the last centuries London grew, to become a global hub for not only commerce, real estate, property speculation, and economy but as well wealth, international art, culture, and a big lobby for education.
How does this reality reflect on every day of the people who live in it? How can we perceive through daily rituals and the details that surround us the imminent presence of the capitalist city?
